Summer Clouds / A Ticket For the London Necropolis Railway

by Clémentine March + Blue House

1.
Music: Clémentine March Lyrics: Javier Leibiusky Look at the clouds, They follow the sun, As I am laying down, Below the sky. Summer’s here but the days get shorter Think about you all the time, Summer clouds running wild above me, Changing colours in the sky Look at you now, You follow the sun, Fading into Unbelievable skies Going up and going down, Old times coming back to life Moving down and then back up Feeling dizzy, collar blind. All these magic little moments Melting slowly Summer’s here but the days get shorter Think about you all the time, Summer clouds running wild above me, Changing colours in the sky

Music & Lyrics by James Howard I’m lying in the second class in a little black space that feels so vast now I’m here because I want to go but now I’m here I really just don’t know Five shillings in the driver’s hand godspeed me to the green and pleasant lands I’m here because I want to go but it’s either too fast or really just too slow train roll on, along train roll on take me home train take me home I think I was a common man living someone else’s master plan I think about my family as sunlight drills its holes straight through me train roll on, along train roll on take me home train take me home

about

In October 2017, French chanteuse and Snapped Ankles bassist Clémentine March received an invitation to record two songs at the legendary Abbey Road Studios with producer Hans-Martin Buff (Prince, No Doubt). She paired with her friends from the band Blue House, resulting in this Record Store Day collaboration.

James Howard, of Blue House, penned ‘A Ticket For The London Necropolis Railway’, a song about the discontinued train line that used to transport the deceased from Waterloo to Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey. Clémentine wrote ‘Summer Clouds’, a meditative and simple reflection on a love affair through the passing of the seasons. The 7” release sees vocal roles swapped over, with Ursula Russell (Blue House) singing Clémentine’s track, and Clémentine bringing her voice to the Blue House song.

There are limited copies of the vinyl in circulation, distributed amongst independent record shops in the U.K.
